| On May 28 2010, professional cyclist Amber Rais will put SRAM Apex to the test over Austria’s highest mountain pass, the Grossglockner.
Each kilometer she covers in 4 hours will raise money to help get Rais to the U.S. National Championships, and 10% of all pledges will go to World Bicycle Relief.
Pledge $1 or more per kilometer, and we will send you a HTFU wristband, like the one Amber will be wearing as she powers over the Grossglockner’s merciless grade and 36 mind-bending switchbacks.
Your pledge supports Amber’s quest for a National Championship Title and the positive work at World Bicycle Relief.

Your Pledge
Your pledge is what you agree to donate for each kilometer Amber can complete in 4 hours (see Route to read more about Amber's challenge). We will calculate your total donation by multiplying your pledge by the number of kilometers Amber completes in 4 hours, and will notify you by e-mail the week of June 1st with results and donation instructions. Your donation will help Amber get to U.S. Nationals, and 10% of your donation will support World Bicycle Relief.
Pledge more than $1 per kilometer, and we'll send you a HTFU wristband!
How To Donate
After Amber completes the Grossglockner challenge, we will notify you by e-mail with the results. You can then make your donation via Pay Pal or credit card (with a secure online transaction through SportsBaseOnline.com). Non-U.S. residents may also donate via transfer at the current exchange rate. We will include payment instructions in your notification e-mail. (Please note we cannot issue tax-deductible receipts.)
The Route
The Grossgockner High Alpine Road is Austria's highest paved mountain pass. Amber's challenge will start at 757m elevation in Bruck. From there, she will climb 1747 vertical meters to the Hochtor at 2504m, followed by a descent of 1203 vertical meters to Heiligenblut, where she will turn around and climb back over the Hochtor, racing the clock to make it back to the town line of Bruck in 4 hours. The road from Bruck to Heiligenblut and back runs 94.6 kilometers, with 3211 vertical meters of climbing and more than 25 kilometers on gradients of over 10%. You'll be able to track Amber's progress real time via Twitter updates from the follow car, and after the ride, look for video coverage of the event on The SRAM Road Diaries.

The Cause
This year, Amber is racing full time in Europe with the Austrian UCI women's team KUOTA Speed Kueens, and she needs help to cover the travel costs required to get from Europe to Bend, Oregon, for the 2010 U.S. National Championships at the end of June. Part of your donation will help Amber get to the U.S. National Championships this year. 10% of your donation will support the positive work being done by the good folks at World Bicycle Relief.
If you would like to make a flat donation to help Amber get to U.S. Nationals this year, you can do so on her donation page through SportsBaseOnline by clicking here: http://bit.ly/AmberUSNats
